1.
Mind reader, fortune teller Look me in the eye Don't you know that I can see The truth behind your lies Naysayer, nonbeliever Don't you know it's true Though you may not want to hear The fate awaiting you Truth be told Bought and sold Mind reader, fortune teller Look me in the eye Don't you know that I can see The truth behind your lies
2.
Halfway up the mountain I started looking down Never stopped for directions Until I lost what I found A defeated country Wondering what to do A sky full of marbles Coming down on you You made it through the worst day Now you're waiting for another Think you should have maybe Listened to your mother It's not what you hoped for It's what you're running from Set the car on fire Until the damage is done Everyone gets HIGH And then it fades away Close your eyes until You're in another place You made it through the worst day Now you're waiting for another Think you should have maybe Listened to your mother Listen to your mother Listen to your mother Listen to your mother Listen to your mother Listen to your mother
3.
I'm so alive I'm feeling free Up above All the trees Big balloons Take me there Some helium And an old lawn chair If I swam the seven seas I'd never feel as wild and free I'm floating here above the clouds With no one looking down on me Letting go Of all I knew The setting sun Fades into blue Darker now No way to know If I'll land Somewhere below If I swam the seven seas I'd never feel so wild and free I'm floating here above the clouds With no one looking down on me
4.
Although you never told me Why you don't cry When I hear you laughing It all made sense to me There's a kind of sadness Running through your veins Always bubbling under The kind you never see
5.
Little big boy lay your head On your pillow and go to bed You've had a big day and now it's time to sleep Close your eyes and you will find In the corners of your mind All the dreams laid out for you to see
6.
Doing everything by the book Fields of second chances But never take a second look Dancing without a clue Feel your feet scraping the ground Will they make a fool of you You sing along and close your eyes It's the saddest lullabye Ss they're striking up the band She asks you for another dance When they laugh you just bow your head Did you think you really had half a chance You sing along and close your eyes It's the saddest lullabye You sing along and close your eyes It's the saddest lullabye

about

The Inside Passenger is the alter-ego of singer/songwriter Cliff Hillis.

Created for his growing collection of atmospheric, moody, soundtrack-esque songs that have emerged as a creative departure from his usual sunny-pop sensibilities.

Inspired by artists such as Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes, Elliott Smith, Sparklehorse and Nick Drake, Hillis found himself both the traveler and the passenger, journeying through late night hours channeling the stream-of-consciousness lyrics and haunting melodies that presented themselves as sonic dreamscapes which exist somewhere between wake and sleep.

This debut release contains six songs clocking in at a spare 12:46,
but will linger in your memory for hours and days to come.
